Monday is Radio Day
Two great guests on our show today - coming up at Noon on East Village Radio.
O.J. San Felipe of Xray Eyeballs

Xray Eyeballs is the brainchild of O.J. San Felipe. Originally from San Francisco, O.J. landed in Brooklyn in 2000. Upon settling, O.J. quickly cemented himself in the underground Brooklyn punk, noise, and indie scene playing in numerous bands including Golden Triangle (Mexican Summer, Hardly Art). While Golden Triangle is known as an all around party band that bashes out garage pop tunes that could easily be found on a Nuggets compilation, O.J. had something else in mind for Xray Eyeballs.
Drawing comparisons to the frantic pop of Jay Reatard and the Urinals, and the moodiness of Velvet Underground and Jesus and Mary Chain, Xray Eyeballs twist it all into their own pop concoction.
Xray Eyeballs will be performing July 17 at the brand new Beach Party series at the Seaport along with Frankie Rose and the Outs.
Kevin Alvir of The Hairs
Catchy, scratchy and just a little bit snarky, The Hairs formed in 2010 following the dissolution of much-loved duo Knight School. Though less than a year old, The Hairs have already gained attention from influential music blogs Stereogum and RCRDLBL.com, and have a digital single out through Holiday Records, the label run by The Drums. Look for The Hairs’ proper debut out on Portland’s fine Magic Marker label this May.
The Hairs perform this coming Sunday at Fulton Stall Market as part of the Sound Bites series.

Monday is RADIO DAY
Well, not officially as in recoginized by the mayor's office or anything like that, but certainly around these parts. And for today's celebration of Monday is (our) Radio Day we have one of our recent fav, Dinowalrus.
Dinowalrus join us on our East Village Radio show Monday, June 6th for interview and live in-studio performance.
"Dinowalrus is psychedelic synth-punk band from Brooklyn, NY comprised of former Titus Andronicus guitarist Pete Feigenbaum, synth and bass wizard Liam Andrew, and veteran drummer Max Tucker. They put out their shape shifting, eclectic and erudite debut, %, on Kanine Records (Surfer Blood, Chairlift, Grizzly Bear). The album was a unique, structurally unorthodox, unpredictable mélange of krautrock, synthpop, shoegaze, acid-rock, noise, and thrash-punk that was well received in underground circles. Later on Pete revamped the lineup and songwriting approach, and began working with Liam Andrew (synthesizers, bass). With drummer Anton Hochheim from their Kanine shoegazer label-mates the Depreciation Guild onboard for recording and a run of shows, Dinowalrus reinvented themselves with a more pop-oriented songwriting approach that drew heavily on the 1980s beats of Madchester plus other groovin’ minimal synth, new wave, dark wave, and post punk angles, while retaining their psychedelic and krautock backbone. When recording wrapped up, they started working fulltime with drummer Max Tucker, formerly of Patrick Cleandenim and Francis and the Lights to take their live show to the next level."
