SEAPORT MUSIC RECORDS NEW RELEASE

Happy Valentine's Day and what better way to celebrate than to release a brand new record and on RED VINYL! This limited edition 7" record from LA-based AMERICAN ROYALTY is the latest release on our own Seaport Music Records label. Having started and launched with some cool releases from our artist in residence Martin Clancy (watch for the soon to be launched From The Library series), we're now hoping to do lots more and introduce great new bands and artists via 7' singles, digital downloads and more.

We've loved American Royalty for awhile, last year they open our show with Metronomy at Pier 54 and it was a pretty spectacular evening. They'll be starting their new tour today so check for dates in your area!

"Matchstick" is the title track of both the a-side of this 7” red vinyl, and the debut EP (Guns in the Sun Records) bearing the same name, by this rising Los Angeles-based psychedelic, blues-rock trio.

This 7” b-side features the track “I’ve Been Fighting for You.” Each limited-edition record is hand-numbered (200). Available at INSOUND or via the band's website.

American Royalty is comprised of lead vocalists Billy Scher and Marc Gilfry whose eerie, soulful harmonies combine with guitars, samplers, drums, and synths in a unlikely blending of dark garage rock with poignant electronica, resulting in what has been critically dubbed “an impossible cross between The Black Keys and Boys Noize.”

Monday is Radio Day

Ray Gange stops by the studio at East Village for a chat, some music and more.

Having gained notoriety/infamy via his role in the iconic 1980 movie“Rude Boyʼ, which revolved around punk legends The Clash, Ray then left England for California and became involved with the punk/underground of Los Angeles before his return to the UK. After attending the opening of a David Hockney ʻpolaroidsʼ exhibition in Hollywood, in 1981, he became aware that art wasnʼt just Impressionism and Old Masters. From then on, between scrapes with the authorities on both sides of the Atlantic writing poetry and making art became his primary interest of expression leading to a Fine Art degree from Chelsea College of Art in 1997. Since then he continues to paint, write and regularly tours with a DJ set of “dirtypunkʼnʼroll-dub&reggae” Most recently his paintings featured in the “Punk & Beyond” exhibition at The Signal Gallery in Shoreditch in Londonʼs East End.
