Mission of Burma with guests, The Labor Pool

We hope you caught DJ Pledge’s East Village Radio interview with Mission of Burma’s Clint Conley on Monday.  If not, you can listen to the podcast here.

More importantly though, the legendary Boston punk/art rock band headlines the final Beach Party concert of the season at Beekman Beer Garden in lower Manhattan this Sunday, August 7.

While doors for the venue open at 11:30 a.m., the show is slated to begin at 3 p.m. with a dj set, followed by MoB’s fellow Mass-based band The Labor Pool.  Mission of Burma is scheduled to take the stage at 5 p.m., but if you wait til then to come, you just might not get in.

After all, Mission of Burma is arguably one of the most important American rock bands of the past 30 years.  The band’s bracing mix of punk, pop, art rock, and avant-garde experimentation has provided inspiration to bands such as Superchunk, Jawbox, The Grifters, R.E.M., Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Sonic Youth, Throwing Muses, Yo La Tengo, Fugazi and Pixies, among others.

The quartet's vocal/guitar/bass/drums/tape manipulation line-up is renowned for its relentlessly intense and dynamic post-punk rock sound. Currently, the band is working on its fifth studio album, and Conley promised to offer up some new material this Sunday.
