THE RETURN OF TED and TYRANNY 10!

Saturday, July 9th Ted Leo and the Pharmacists return to the Seaport to celebrate 10 years of Ted Leo free summer shows in NYC, the 10th anniversary of the Seaport Music Festival AND the Official Kick Off to the 4Knots Music Festival, which takes place on July 16.

ALSO, JUST  ANNOUNCED by Ted in his own words...

"So, before I bury the lede, as I too often do, let me just get this out of the way and say that YES – we are, in fact, going to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the release of “The Tyranny of Distance” by playing it in its entirety (along with probably quite a bit of stuff from all the other albums as well) on July 9, 2011 at this year’s *FREE* outdoor summer show at South Street Seaport, Manhattan, NYC – the “kick off” show for the Voice’s new 4Knots festival."

"What this is, more than anything, is kind of a way to say “Thanks” to everyone who’s been there and come along or joined us since, and something immensely fun and gratifying for us, personally, to be able to do."

Presented by The Village Voice and Seaport Music Festival, the show marks Ted Leo’s return to Pier 17 where he has appeared five times, including an impromptu skateboarding demo during a torrential downpour, and the improbable generator powered show of the 2003 blackout.

The Village Voice launches the inaugural 4Knots Music Festival the following week on Saturday July 16th here at the Seaport.  The free festival is open to all ages, and will be held rain or shine.

Here's a quick timeline and history of Ted, us and New York City summer shows.

2002: Ted's first performance at the Seaport. He plays solo, opening for Radio 4.
2003: Played both Siren and Seaport - At the Seaport, night of THE BLACK OUT. A frappuccino van courtesy of well known coffee company saved the day by backing up van to the stage so we could run off their generators. One song appears in the "Dirty Old Town" DVD as an extra.
2004: Seaport - Rain. News-worthy, "Biblical", torrential...rain. Again, one song appears on the DVD as an extra.
2005: Seaport - The sun shines down on Ted Leo and 6,000 fans. Finally.
2006: Seaport -  The fifth year, there is a TORNADO WATCH.
2007: McCarren Pool
2008: Castle Clinton/Ted DJ's Main Stage at Siren
2009: RiverRocks - RAIN
2010: Siren Music Festival - Celebrates 10 years of Siren.
