Ray Gange stops by the studio at East Village for a chat, some music and more.

Having gained notoriety/infamy via his role in the iconic 1980 movie“Rude Boyʼ, which revolved around punk legends The Clash, Ray then left England for California and became involved with the punk/underground of Los Angeles before his return to the UK. After attending the opening of a David Hockney ʻpolaroidsʼ exhibition in Hollywood, in 1981, he became aware that art wasnʼt just Impressionism and Old Masters. From then on, between scrapes with the authorities on both sides of the Atlantic writing poetry and making art became his primary interest of expression leading to a Fine Art degree from Chelsea College of Art in 1997. Since then he continues to paint, write and regularly tours with a DJ set of “dirtypunkʼnʼroll-dub&reggae” Most recently his paintings featured in the “Punk & Beyond” exhibition at The Signal Gallery in Shoreditch in Londonʼs East End.
